The Independent Doctors Federation (IDF) is the most innovative, forward thinking and active independent medical practitioner organisation in Great Britain.  We are recognised as the nationwide voice of independent doctors in all matters relating to private medicine, their education and revalidation.

The IDF has close links with the Department of Health, Care Quality Commission, General Medical Council, British Medical Association, Royal Colleges and all the major private insurance companies and private hospitals. It has representation on the BMA Private Practice Committee and the RCGP Revalidation Stakeholders Committee.  The IDF appointed a Responsible Officer, Dr Stuart Sanders, on 1st January 2011. 

The IDF offers appraisal to its members modelled on the NHS system which is recognised by the GMC. It seeks to work in a spirit of harmonious co-operation with the NHS and offer choice to patients. Many IDF members work in both the NHS and the Independent Sector.
