Doctors with NHS Sessions/DOH Consultation on Proposed Changes

The Department of Health has issued a consultation on the proposed changes to Regulations for those independent practitioners with NHS sessions.

The IDF Regulation Committee will be replying to the Consultation and we have e-mailed out asking for comments to all those members whom we know to have NHS Sessions.

It is proposed that medical practitioners who are “employed” by CQC registered providers will not have to register separately. “Employment” will cover “practising privileges”. Consultants who have NHS appointments may be covered both by NHS registration and “practising privileges”. The purpose of the consultation is to seek comments on the extent of “employment” which will be required to avoid separate registration of an independent practice.
