New Registration Requirements under Health & Social Care Act
The Health and Social Care Act 2008 introduced a new, single registration system that applies to both health and adult social care. All providers of regulated health and adult social care services will be required to apply for registration under the new system. From April 2010, all NHS trusts (including primary care trusts as providers) must be registered. From October 2010, all currently registered adult social care and independent healthcare providers must be re-registered. The CQC will be giving one month’s notice of registration in batches commencing April 2010 and doctors will need to comply with this. The IDF held a very well attended and helpful open meeting with the CQC on 26th April. Full minutes of the meeting are available to IDF members and a FAQ document has been prepared by the CQC following on from this meeting which can be accessed via the members section of the IDF website under Regulation.
